At least eight people have been killed and seven others injured during an attack by unknown gunmen on Doma county headquarters in Upper Nile state, opposition governor for Sobat state, Gen. Banak Riang confirmed this incident to the UN radio. The governor said the attackers remains unidentified and the authorities are still working to establish where the attackers come from so as to take necessary actions against them and to bring these culprits to book. “There was an attack today on Doma. We could not know who the attackers are but we are working to establish who they are and we will take the necessary action upon them for law to prevail,” he said. Other sources also told the UN radio in south sudan that the gunmen briefly captured the county headquarters before withdrawing later on Sunday. People had also fled the town and had to return in the evening according to the sources.
